John J.
Duffy Memorial Award
NCISS To Honor Military and
Law Enforcement\
At the 35th Annual NCISS
Conference in Chicago, Illinois, the Council’s highest
honor, the
John J. Duffy
Memorial Award, will be presented to a decorated
Chicago police officer who is also an honored leader
serving in our military.
Officer Joseph E. Cistaro, is a Command Sergeant Major
in the Illinois Army National Guard who has seen
Afghanistan combat and whose military awards include the
Bronze Star. Officer Cistaro epitomizes our brave men
and women who serve and protect us at home and abroad.
The “Duffy” is named in honor of NCISS’s first
President. Since 1985, the Award has been presented to
deserving NCISS members and in alternate years to
organizations or individuals whose work supports the
Council and our goals or who have distinguished
themselves with heroic acts.
