Monday, December 7, 2009, as was reported a few days ago by
NCISS Legislation Chair Jimmie Mesis, the Federal Trade
Commission (FTC) sponsored a series of roundtable discussion
panels entitled "Exploring Privacy."
NCISS participated in the workshop by submitting questions to be
addressed by the various panels. Representing NCISS were three
of us, Jimmie Mesis, NCISS Legislative Advocate Larry Sabbath
and me.
Participation in workshops such as these helps to insure that
NCISS keeps its collective finger on the pulse of privacy
concerns and on-line; data access. A second roundtable will be
held January 28, 2010 at the
·
If you are interested in the panel participants and the topics
discussed, they are shown below. You will find it is an
interesting collection of corrporate, government, non profit,
academic and privacy representatives.
Tuesday, as a follow-up to the Roundtable, we spent quite a
productive day visiting various Congressional representatives
and discussing access to personal identifying information as
well as the pending House bill, HR 3306 - "Social Security
Number Privacy and Identity Theft Protection Act" that restricts
the use of social security numbers.
After 35 years, we continue to be "Your Voice in the Nation's
Capitol."
Sincerely,
Francine Koehler
President
